Lu Sipei

Stephanie Sipei Lu is a researcher at the Research Centre for New Art Museum Studies at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and a PhD graduate of the School of Museum Studies, University of Leicester, UK. Recent projects: 1st Trans-Southeast Asian Triennial Serial Research Exhibition #1-#4, retrospective coordinator (University Art Museum, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, February-May 2023); 1st Pan-Southeast Asian Triennial Serial Research Exhibition #3 "Two Responses to Social Practice" – “Threading through the Eye of the Needle”, curator (Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, University Art Museum, November 2021-March 2022), which focuses on social practice in South China and Southeast Asia and is currently running on a long-term basis in the form of exhibitions, publications, screenings, workshops and so on; ecoartasia.net, writer (City University of Hong Kong, 2019- 2020); together with the Social Practice Lab, we will launch "The Ripe Wasteland", an interdisciplinary platform starting from our own curiosities and confusions, inviting practitioners to share their practices taking place in rural areas today, focusing on methodologies of practice and building an network of knowledge production and practice.
Her articles have appeared in Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art, The Future of Museum and Gallery Design, New Art Museum Studies, Art Monthly, Be Water Journal, Museum, etc. She is the translator of Active Withdrawals: The Life and Death of Institutional Critique. She is an honorary alumnus of the University of Leicester (2018- ); guest lecturer at the School of Arts Management, China Academy of Art (2018-2019), and was selected for the Japan Foundation 2019 Young Curators International Exchange Programme and Para Site 2015 Young Curators Exchange Programme.
